_The New: Sichuan Trip

Once again I tagged along with my mom for a scientific conference. It was a bit boring this time, so I'll just go over everything simply. We first took the plane to Chengdu then directly took the high speed rail to Luzhou. Apparently the difference between Chengdu and other Sichuanese cities is pretty big. The smog here was serious, and the cuisine didn't really fit my pallette (which has trended south). Nevertheless, my mom's collegues were nice and the hotel was good.

I got to spend some time window shopping in the mall/market opposite to the hotel. Unfortunately because my Wechat/Alipay account wasn't completely finished setting up, I couldn't buy anything aside from a notebook which I plan to gift to my friend. The stuff sold at the food market there looked super good :(.

We only stayed two nights. On the last day, right before we left we got an opportunity to try some of Luzhou's specialties: 豬兒粑(basically pork dumplings, but with sticky rice as the wrappper), 白糕 etc, and also went to the riverside to feed some seagulls. In the afternoon we took the high speed rail back to Chengdu and flew back to HK.

_The Old: Revisiting Nostalgia

On Monday I went to Taipo to place some flowers, there were lots of others also wearing black in the area. I also realised there were a lot more resturants there than what I remembered. When I was young I used to come here all the time with my family to shop at the wet market, though I haven't been here in so long.

On Tuesday I went shopping in Shekmun, mainly to buy slime. I remember it was super popular when I was in middle school. Man I haven't played with it in so long...

Friday: My first social interaction in so long -_-... I went to my friend's 18th bday party and got to meet up with some of my other friends. The participants were a mix of other alumini from our secondary school and her university friends. I bought her some alcohol-filled chocolates and a crab notebook from Luzhou. There were tons of snacks, mostly junk food. Nobody ate mine... at least I had them all to myself. Lunch was an order from Pizza Hut, though the pizza's were way smaller than expected. After lunch I spent most of my time playing "balloon-volley ball" with two other girls, one also a 2025 graduate from our school and the other still in year 13.

It felt so weird hearing news/gossip about my old classmates and the Y13s, seeing my old math tutor (my friend's clubhouse is where I took many of my tutorial classes) while also being right next to my old school... I keep thinking: "I'd do anything to go back a year and re-do everything".

Cake was chocolate strawberry mochi, very nicely decorated. We spend so much time taking pics for Instagram, unfortunately my hair was messy from bouncing around so I looked like a mess. Finally to end our day, everyone went up to my friend's apartment to see her guinea pig.
